All consultations are online or by phone for the rest of the Spring 2020 semester.

Phone consultations are just what you would expect—you and your consultant will talk about your writing over the phone.

We offer two different kinds of online appointments:

  • Synchronous online appointments: You and your consultant will communicate using audio, video, and text chat in real time.
  • (Available April 13) Doc Drop Consulting: You can upload a draft and a consultant will respond in writing within two business days. Please note that consultants will spend up to one hour reading and responding to your paper. If you submit a paper longer than 10 double-spaced pages, please indicate which sections the consultant should focus on.

We offer the following appointment types by phone or online:

Writing consultation: a 50-minute session to focus on any aspect of writing

Group writing consultation: a 50-minute session for 2-4 students working on the same assignment

Access Center consultation: a 60-minute session for students registered with the Access Center

The following types of appointments are not currently available, but we hope to offer them again in Fall 2020:

  • 2in20: a 20-minute session focused on proofreading. Bring two pages of writing; the consultant will proofread the first page to demonstrate and the student will proofread the second page with assistance. **Available only at AD**
  • Class visit: a 15-minute conversation with a consultant about our services and philosophy
  • Class workshop: please contact Elizabeth Kleinfeld ( if you are interested in a class workshop
